My name is Tahirah Samuels. I am currently an LMSW working to complete my LCSW under the supervision of Sedrick Jackson, LCSW. I have worked for a number of years with individuals suffering from a wide variety of mental health and comorbid diagnoses. I am currently working as a Clinical Therapist in an acute level, inpatient psychiatric hospital, where I provide therapy to individuals and their families.
My view is that psychotherapy can create profound differences in people's lives. The impact of those changes is felt most dramatically as one's life unfolds. My goal is to destigmatize the therapeutic process and promote its use not only for symptom relief but as a means of enhancing one’s total life experience.
I believe that psychotherapy is sold short if it is merely about "coping" with life. I will strive to promote thriving, not merely surviving, and I will make every effort to assist you in reaching your fullest potential.
