LCSW Clinical Social Work Supervisor
I am co-founder and faculty of The Houston Galveston Trauma Institute, a non profit training institute. Our mission is to train mental health professionals in trauma informed stage based assessment and treatment of a variety of trauma related disorders. I am co instructor of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation Dissociation and Psychotherapy courses for the Southwest Region, a course taught all over the world. I am psychodynamic and relational with a trauma focus, and understand the stage based rationale for multiple other treatment modalities including hypnosis, DBT, sand tray and cognitive behavioral interventions. I hope to train a cohort of professionals who can identify mood disorders, compulsive and substance disorders, relationship problems, somatization disorders as rooted in the individuals traumatic history. Understanding problematic symptoms in the context of reenacting the trauma story gives people sustained relief that focusing only on symptoms reduction cannot accomplish. Most of our patients with traumatic histories present with Mood disorders, Dissociation, and relationship struggles. Using case consultation over time with this understanding can be the deepest growth for the clinician as well as the patient.
