Kim GarrettVerified

LCSW Clinical Social Work Supervisor

In my 25 years as a Social Worker, I have worked in many areas of practice, including private practice, school social work, acute care psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, and home studies for international adoptions.

I have a great deal of experience with therapy for individuals, families, couples, and groups. I have developed skills in diagnosing, treatment planning, parenting techniques and effective discipline, safety planning and suicide prevention. The current focus on Trauma-Informed Care poses an exciting area of interest for the field of Social Work.

I am a strengths-oriented social worker, and I encourage balancing respect for the clients' past experiences with resilience and hope for the future. My supervision style is friendly, relaxed, and receptive. Social work is a stressful business, and we must develop and maintain a positive attitude toward our work!

In 1999, I earned my M.B.A., which gives me a unique perspective in terms of fiscal matters, the difficult decisions that businesses must make, best practices, leadership, and vision. Integrating these concepts into social work practice has allowed me to develop a balanced approach to my work.
